Change:

happens through a creative act, when we discover something new, or something familiar in a new way.

Wellness:

is defined by the Webster dictionary as, "the quality or state of being in good health especially as an actively sought goal." An important concept for businesses, particularly those with high stress levels and use of sick time, along with low staff productivity.

 Research:

The latest research on music-making and creativity as a de-stressor and promoter for good health has brought music therapy techniques to the foreground in this area.

Staff wellness comes in a group format.

Why group format?

Groups are used as a spring board to simulate a microcosm of the work place dynamics. Staff are given opportunities to be with each other in a neutral setting, while the therapist  provides a safe and creative space for roles to be negotiated within the music-making process. All layers of communication have a voice, and an arena for expression. As the improvisations progress, so does the staff's cohesion, and productivity in and out of the music-making setting.

Because of the release of endorphins there is a natural enjoyment factor, and people love being a part of these programs. It elevates mood, which in turn, allows staff to feel a sense of freedom to express and enjoy a positive experience of working together to form a group piece of music.  Recordings of sessions are optional, but recommended.  Like all process oriented work, staff wellness programs require a minimum of 4 sessions.  Retreats are also available.
